Abraham Lincoln

Abraham Lincoln is one of the most recognized historical figures in the United States, and possibly the world. But most of what people know about Abe Lincoln, they learned in elementary school. As the year 2009 approaches, when Kentucky along with the rest of the nation will celebrate the bicentennial of his birth, we invite you to re-discover Abraham Lincoln and the story you may never have known. The chronicle of Abraham Lincoln's life is a compelling American tale of humble beginnings, successes and failures, and ultimately triumphs in holding together a nation under the most difficult of circumstances.

On February 12, 2008, Kentucky will be the focus of national and international attention when the city of Hodgenville kicks off a two-year celebration of the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birth. Nowhere else can you experience Lincoln as you can here in Kentucky; the land where he was born, where the basis of his ideas and beliefs had their beginnings, and from which he developed life-long associations and friendships. We invite you to discover the unbridled spirit of Kentucky in one of its most celebrated sons, Abraham Lincoln.
